Exploring the World of Law and Order: Grade 1 & 2's Thrilling Field Trip to Pardi Police Station!

Today, our young detectives got up close and personal with the brave men and women in uniform, learning about the various arms used by police officers, the functions of a jail, and interacting with police personnel and community members. They even got to ask questions and learn about the importance of teamwork and community service.

This unforgettable experience will surely leave a lasting impression on our young minds and inspire them to become responsible citizens.

Exploring the Future of Renewable Energy: Waaree Industry Field Trip!

Our students embarked on an exciting journey to the Waaree industry, where they discovered the fascinating process of solar panel manufacturing and their benefits. Starting with the factory's origin, they learned about the history and evolution of solar panels.

Next, they witnessed the making of solar panels through various machines, from cell production to module assembly. The students were amazed by the complexity and efficiency of the process. This hands-on experience will surely inspire their curiosity and passion for renewable energy.

The youngest participants, Grade 1 and 2, wowed us with their colorful drawings of rakhi. Meanwhile, Grades 3 and 4 used edible items to create beautiful and delicious rakhi. The resourceful Grade 5 and 6 students made rakhi out of waste materials, while the Grade 7 and 8 students crafted stunning rakhi using flowers. The students learned about how things are made of different materials and discovered the properties of plastic that make it ideal for a variety of products.

In the session titled "Plastic is Precious," students wrote about common objects made of plastic and discussed why plastic is harmful to the environment.

Students explored the properties of plastic compared to other materials. Contrary to popular belief, they realized that plastic is a precious and valuable material. Its long-lasting, durable, and economical nature makes our lives convenient and safe.

Grade 7 & 8

Students learned about the use and properties of plastic, recognizing its abundant presence in everyday objects. They completed a worksheet where they identified types of plastic that can be reused.

Career Pathway for a Better Future

The session was part of the Career Vision initiative by Podar School, supported by IEC, now in its 7th year of conducting Career Guidance and Assessment for grades IX to XII. We discussed vocational training programs and services designed to help students identify careers that align with their interests and strengths.

The session highlighted the importance of making decisions based on personal passions and abilities rather than following social media trends or peer influences. Emphasis was placed on recognizing that each student has unique strengths, and finding a career that aligns with these strengths is crucial for long-term success and satisfaction in this rapidly changing world.

A Jumpstart activity on the theme "Plastic Plastic Everywhere" was conducted at Podar International School, Vapi.

A Jumpstart Event includes activities carried out before a module begins, immersing students in the theme without directly revealing its content. These activities are designed to surprise students, capture their imagination, and generate curiosity about the upcoming theme. The goal is to engage every student from the onset and provide a common platform for shared experiences as they progress through the unit.

Following grade-wise activities were conducted for the upcoming theme:

• Grade 1 & 2: Which material for a bag is best for the environment?
  In this activity, students actively participated and voted on the material for a bag that is most beneficial for the environment.
• Grade 3 & 4: Caption this.
  Students were asked to look at a given picture and express their understanding of it, discussing whether it is good for them and the environment.
• Grade 5 & 6: What comes to your mind when you hear the word plastic?
  In this activity, students shared their thoughts on the word "plastic," discussing its advantages and disadvantages.
• Grade 7 & 8: Which is the most littered plastic found in tourist places?
  Students were asked to write about the types of plastic litter commonly found in tourist locations.

Podar International School, Vapi conducted "Mirror Musings: Reflecting on My Brightest Self." The objective of this special feature was to focus on how one's mindset plays a crucial role in life. Adopting a growth mindset fosters belief in oneself and one’s abilities, encouraging positive thinking and resilience during setbacks.

Grade 1 & 2
On Day 1, students were introduced to the concept of a growth mindset through the story of "Gary, the Giraffe." They learned to distinguish between fixed and growth mindsets through an engaging activity. On Day 2, students were encouraged to use the word "YET" in their daily statements to recognize the transformation in their thinking. By the end of the session, they applied their knowledge to create a growth mindset storybook.

Grade 3 & 4
On Day 1, students explored the growth mindset through a short story, learning to differentiate between fixed and growth mindsets. They concluded the session by understanding the value of developing a growth mindset. On Day 2, they learned about the word "yet" and its significance, grasping how this simple word can transform their understanding of challenges and help them achieve difficult tasks.

Grade 5 & 6
On Day 1, students identified the meaning of a growth mindset and understood the differences between growth and fixed mindsets. They evaluated situations within and outside their control to better comprehend a growth mindset approach. On Day 2, they explored the power of "yet" in the context of a growth mindset and applied this knowledge to set personal and collaborative goals.

Grade 7 & 8
On Day 1, students engaged in a Ribbon Knot Activity to learn about growth and fixed mindsets. They understood the power of words through a pairing activity and completed a small exercise focusing on the word "Yet." Day 2 centered on how a growth mindset works, highlighting traits of individuals with a growth mindset. They created a detailed growth mindset action plan using a guided worksheet and contributed to a Growth Mindset class chart with their teacher's guidance.

Earthquakes represent a complex phenomenon with both advantages and disadvantages. While they play a crucial role in shaping the Earth's surface and providing valuable resources, they also pose significant risks to human life, infrastructure, and economic stability.

To raise awareness about the dos and don'ts of earthquakes, a special assembly was conducted. A speech was given on earthquakes, and some students demonstrated informative acts on what to do if you’re indoors during an earthquake and what to do if you are in an open area.

The objective of making students aware of earthquake safety was further reinforced with a quiz, where students actively participated.

Podar International School, Vapi conducted a house competition: the Comic Trivia Tournament - Quest for the Ultimate Comic Knowledge!

Comics have long been an effective visual tool for communicating ideas, thoughts, and stories. They continue to enthrall children and adults alike with their easy-to-understand sketches and vocabulary, serving as a fun way to convey information in a compact format. Whether as comic books or animated stories in the media, comics engage people of all ages.

The Comic Trivia Tournament aimed to encourage students to delve into their knowledge of their favorite comics while competing for their house. Students participated in a house-wise Comic Trivia Quiz competition, forming four teams of four students (one from each house) to compete against each other. Questions covered various aspects of comics, including characters, writers, settings, and other details, testing their knowledge of the comic world.

Session 2: Elements of Comics
In this session, students learned about various comic elements such as panels and speech balloons. They recreated comic strips using elements like panels and dialogues.

Grade 3 & 4
Session 2: Students learned about inanimate subjects as comic characters. They drew their own imaginative characters on paper.

Grade 5 & 6
Session 2: Students studied comic elements by deconstructing a comic. Through an activity, they applied and evaluated the importance of these elements and learned about their impact by recreating an existing comic strip in pairs.

Grade 7 & 8
Session 2: Students learned about acclaimed international comics such as Garfield, Peanuts, and Calvin and Hobbes, as well as well-known Indian comics like Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle comics, and Diamond Comics. They gained knowledge and explored the important elements of a comic, then applied this knowledge to complete a comic strip.

Today, we celebrated Panchayati Raj Day, marking the passing of the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992, which institutionalized Panchayati Raj (local self-governance) in rural areas of India. We honor a cornerstone of Indian democracy—a system that enables communities to shape their own development. It serves as a testament to the strength of grassroots democracy and the beauty of collective decision-making.

To celebrate this day, a beautiful village was created on the school grounds, where our students presented an informative act. They discussed the problems faced by the local people in rural areas with a group of panchayat heads, who then provided solutions. This act illustrated the workings of Panchayati Raj to the students.

A Visitor of the Month Program was conducted by Podar International School, Vapi. The guest of the day was Mrs. Bhakti Gujjar Patel, a renowned mompreneur and self-taught baker. She completed her MBA in marketing, but her passion for entrepreneurship and baking always urged her to pursue her dreams.

To achieve her goals in the bakery business, she visited various places, attended exhibitions, and met numerous vendors, ultimately becoming a renowned baker. Her specialty lies in fondant work and unique cakes and flavors. The purpose of inviting her was to help students understand that with passion and determination, they can achieve their dreams.

She guided students on what steps to take if they chose baking as a profession and explained how they can turn their passion into a business. Mrs. Patel motivated students to become entrepreneurs and strive for self-independence. She also showcased her baking skills by demonstrating an easy recipe for biscuit pudding.

To raise awareness about this day, Podar International School, Vapi conducted a special assembly.

As we begin the New Academic Session 2024-25, teachers conducted a morning assembly filled with a funny musical dance drama to create a light and fun atmosphere for the students. This brought laughter and happiness to everyone.
