‘Abhivyakti - The Annual Debate Competition’ was organized by the ISC team of Podar International School, on the 25th of July, 2024, held for the grades XI and XII from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00noon in the Ashoka Hall of the school.
The purpose of ‘Abhivyakti’ was, as the literal meaning goes, to provide students with a platform to express their opinions, present their perspective in an organized form and to enable them to test their oratory and persuasive skills.
The twelve participants from XI and XII standards were divided into groups of two members each, such that there were six teams. Each team had one participant presenting his views ‘for’ the topic and the other advocating ‘against’ it.
The topic- ‘Do advertisements exploit social issues for commercial gains’ was given to the participants an hour before the competition, and they were given access to the library resources to procure information and prepare their arguments.
The dedication and enthusiasm of the participants were palpable throughout the competition. Podar International School ICSE-ISC, Nerul celebrated Guru Purnima on 19th July 2024, focusing on the theme "Guru ke charno mein kruthagnyata vyakt kanre ka din." The event aimed to highlight the significance of guru in one’s life, among students. Class XI B, led by Ms. Ronak Thakkar, conducted the class assembly. The program included a song which sung by Ms. Shreya Rao, a short skit which highlighted the importance of Guru Purnima by Atharva Wala and Arva Shirke, and instructions on card making by Event Coordinator Ms. Chitra Parandwal. Class Teachers then facilitated the sample messages and pictures for better understanding for the students. The students then wrote the message and decorated the card for their parents, (their first Gurus). Class Teachers captured photos to document the event. Students participated enthusiastically, gaining insights into the significance of Guru Purnima and importance of Guru in their life. Ashadhi Ekadashi is a significant festival celebrated in the month of Aashadh every year in Maharashtra. It is an auspicious day when devotees perform various rituals and pooja ceremonies to honor God Vishnu, particularly in the form of Shri Vithhala. In Maharashtra, people traditionally undertake a pilgrimage, known as Wari, from different places to Pandharpur, where they walk to have a darshan (holy sight) of Vithhala. Those who cannot participate in the Wari, offer prayers and flowers to God Vitthal and fast.
In Podar International School ICSE-ISC, Nerul, the Special Assembly was conducted highlighting the significance of Aashadhi Ekadashi where the teacher explained how the festival is traditionally observed and underscored the planning and execution of Pandharpur Wari. Students of Grade V to XII witnessed the assembly virtually and imbibed the ethos of the day. The students of Grade V celebrated Aashadhi Ekadashi by participating in a symbolic Wari within the school premises called as ‘Shaley Wari’. The students not only dressed in traditional Maharashtrian attire but also held placards featuring Abhangas of the Saints of Maharashtra. Abhangas are devotional songs or poems composed by Saints, expressing their reverence and devotion to God Vitthal. On the 15th of July 2024, the students of grades I to IV at Podar International School, ICSE, engaged in a transformative activity called “Mirror Musings,” aimed at fostering a growth mindset. The activity was designed to encourage students to reflect on their thoughts, actions, and aspirations, while reinforcing the importance of self-belief and perseverance.
“Mirror Musings” was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the students of Podar International School, ICSE. The activity not only reinforced the principles of a growth mindset but also empowered students to embrace challenges and believe in their potential. By reflecting on their personal growth and sharing their experiences, students cultivated a supportive and encouraging environment, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and development.
On 11 July 2024, Podar International school, ICSE hosted a spirited Declamation competition for the students of Grades I and II. The event was a delightful showcase of young talent, confidence, and oratory skills.
The declamation competition not only provided a platform for the children to develop their public speaking skills but also boosted their self-esteem and encouraged them to articulate their thoughts confidently. It was a memorable day, and we look forward to witnessing more such inspiring performances in the future.

Podar International School ICSE-ISC, Nerul conducted a ‘Model United Nation’ (MUN) conference for the secondary grade students on 25th June, 2024. The participants were selected from Grades 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th. Total number of participants was 65. This year the SOCHUM committee represented the various countries e.g. Canada, United Kingdom, Russia, Pakistan, United States of America, France etc.
MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations and is a great opportunity for the students to understand global social and economic problems, and come up with solutions through discussions and collaboration.
Students participating in such programs develop research skills, public speaking, debating and writing skills. It also fosters spirit of team work and inculcates leadership qualities.

We are excited to announce the establishment of the School Library Advisory Committee, a dedicated team committed to enhancing the school library experience for our students and teachers. The School Library Advisory Committee aims to promote literacy, foster a love for reading, and support academic excellence by providing guidance on library resources, programs, and services.

The Abhimaan Series (weekly activity- on Thursday) is a dedicated initiative by PODAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ICSE-ISC, NERUL, to recall and remember forgotten heroes and their contributions to India's development. The series aims to educate students about these personalities, their contributions, and their impact on India's growth. The students of Class V to XII are introduced to various personalities through PPT who have made significant contributions to India's progress ensuring that their ethos and principles are remembered and respected through the Abhimaan Series.
- The session commences with a comprehensive presentation on personality, covering its multifaceted aspects and profound impacts on daily life.
- Following the presentation, a dynamic question-and-answer session allows students to delve deeper into the topic. They are engaged actively with the teachers, seeking clarifications and exploring various dimensions of personality. This interactive component fosters a collaborative learning environment, where students can express their thoughts and queries freely.
- The discussion then shifts to the significance of personality in shaping individual experiences and interactions. Students and teachers collectively explore how personality traits influence personal and professional relationships, decision-making processes, and overall life satisfaction. This segment underscores the importance of self-awareness and the potential benefits of understanding one's own personality.
- To conclude, teachers prompts students to reflect on their personal takeaways from the session. Students are encouraged to articulate what they have learned, how they can apply this knowledge in their lives, and any new insights they have gained about their own personalities. This reflective exercise aims to solidify the learning outcomes and promote a deeper, more personal engagement with the topic.
Podar International School celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2024, focusing on the theme "Yoga for Self and Society." The event aimed to highlight the benefits of yoga and encourage its practice among students. Class VIII E, led by Ms. Sunitha Nair, conducted the class assembly. The program included a prayer, Thought for the Day, reflections on yoga, a talk on its importance, and a brief on the Summer Solstice by Ms. Ranjita Sawant. Ms. Reena Goel provided an inspiring leadership talk, followed by a 20-minutes breathing exercise session led by Ms. Aarohi. Students also performed different Yoga exercises. Class Teachers/ Substitute Teachers then facilitated a PowerPoint presentation and discussion on yoga’s benefits.PT teachers conducted the exercises and monitored the sessions. Class Teachers captured photos to document the event.
Students participated enthusiastically, gaining insights into yoga's historical and cultural significance. The breathing exercises and discussions were particularly well-received. Overall, the celebration successfully promoted a healthy and balanced lifestyle through yoga.
The students of Podar International School, ICSE/ISC, Nerul showcased a diverse range of activities to honour English Language Day. The programme began with a soulful rendition of “A Million Dreams” by the school choir, setting a perfect tone for the event.
The highlight of the celebration was the roleplay segment by the 8th graders, who brilliantly brought characters from Shakespearean plays to life. Each character was portrayed skillfully revealing the conflict each grappled with. The students from the 5th standard delighted the audience with recitation of poems by renowned poets such as John Keats and Emily Dickenson showing their appreciation for literary classes.
Closing the festivities was a gripping performance of ‘Dear Departed’ by William Stanley Houghton, flawlessly executed by the students. The performance was not only marked by their depth and subtlety but also by moments of humour that delighted the audience touching them on multiple emotional levels.
The audience was mesmerized by the student's creativity, talent and profound understanding of the English Language and its literary treasures.
Our Heritage, Our Pride
History is not a burden on memory but an illumination of the soul.
History is one of the most important studies that shapes our attitudes towards the past and structures our present and future. Podar International School ICSE/ISC-Nerul conducted an inter house Collage making competition “Our Heritage, Our Pride” on 24.01.24. The event was hosted by the History Department for Grades V to VIII to create in the students’ love, pride and respect for the rich and prosperous Indian culture. The students displayed artistic ingenuity and excellent craftsmanship by making marvelous collage on mount boards based on the theme the famous personalities who contributed significantly to glorify the state they belonged. Students were given various states house wise and they exhibited the true essence of the states with great zeal and fervour.
To actively promote the students' interest in Mathematics and its application and encourage them to overcome their fear of Mathematics, PIS Nerul ICSE, ISC organized 'Mathematica'- a fun filled Mathematics Quiz Competition for the students of Grade V to IX on 7th February 2024. The competition was started with the introduction of the ten finalists from each grade during morning assembly, followed by a warm up quiz session for the audience.
Five teams comprising of two members each were selected for the final round. All the teams -Algebraic Avengers. Equation Explorer, Geometric Gurus, Maths Marvels, and Prime Puzzlers showed their remarkable talent in all three rounds. Team Equation

Podar International School ICSE NERUL conducted engaging Financial Literacy activities for primary students of class III & IV incorporating interactive activities. The activities covered areas such as currency awareness, saving, and budgeting, aiming to instill financial responsibility in students. The positive outcome underscores our commitment to establishing the foundation for responsible financial habits, ensuring that students are well-equipped with essential skills for the future.
