On 14th December 2024, the teachers of Podar International School, Ratnagiri, gathered for a special wellness session, designed to promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and self-care. The session, held on the school football ground, aimed to provide a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of the academic year.
Through a series of interactive activities, games, and energetic dance, our dedicated teachers were able to unwind, de-stress, and recharge. The session was a wonderful opportunity for the staff to bond, share experiences, and prioritize their own well-being.

On December 7, 2024, Podar International School, #Ratnagiri witnessed a vibrant explosion of color, culture, and camaraderie as we hosted the much-anticipated event, “Fashion Fiesta!” This grand culmination of the thematic unit, “What We Wear,” brought together students, parents, and teachers to celebrate learning through style, music, and creativity.
The event opened with an elegant welcome for our distinguished Chief Guest Mr. Suhas Wasave. Our honorable Principal, Mr. Rakesh Chavan, set the stage with a warm note of gratitude, ensuring the energy for the day was both high and heartfelt.
Students took the mic to unveil the theme, “What We Wear,” weaving an engaging narrative about how clothing connects us to history, culture, and self-expression. The audience was spellbound as students performed a melodious song. The tempo shifted as students delivered a high-energy dance performance.
The runway came alive with the Theme-Based Fashion Parade. Each young participant confidently showcased outfits highlighting the lessons learned during the unit. Adding a delightful twist, the Parents’ Fashion Showcase became the crowd favorite. Walking with flair and elegance, parents joined the celebration of creativity, strengthening the bond between school and family in a stylish display of togetherness.
The event concluded with inspiring speeches from our Chief Guest and Principal. The Chief Guest commended the students and teachers for their hard work and creativity, emphasizing the importance of learning through exploration and collaboration. The Principal, in their address, thanked everyone for their participation and highlighted how “Fashion Fiesta” was a testament to the school’s commitment to holistic education.
The event wrapped up with an engaging classroom exhibition. Parents and guests explored student projects that showcased innovative ideas about clothing.

We are delighted to inform you that Podar International School, #Ratnagiri, Grade II students participated in their Thematic Unit Culminating Event with a special visit to Maher Ashram, located in Nivali, Ratnagiri, on Saturday, 16th November 2024, during school hours.
The primary goal of this visit was not only to make a meaningful donation but also to provide students with an insightful, hands-on learning experience about the workings of an orphanage and the impact of charity. Through this visit, the students were able to witness firsthand how their contributions could help improve the lives of children residing at the Ashram.
Upon arriving at Maher Ashram, our students were warmly welcomed by the residents and staff of the Ashram. The children of Maher Ashram greeted our students with songs and cheerful greetings, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
The visit also included a brief tour of Maher Ashram, where the students were shown how the Ashram provides shelter, education, and care to children and women in need. The staff at Maher Ashram explained the history of the institution and its mission to support marginalized and vulnerable populations.
The visit to Maher Ashram was an incredibly meaningful experience for our Grade II students. It not only allowed them to contribute to a noble cause but also provided an opportunity to learn about the significance of charitable giving and the impact it can have on the lives of others. We are proud of the thoughtfulness and generosity shown by our students, and we hope that this visit has instilled in them a lasting sense of responsibility toward helping others. We are excited to share the success of the culminating event for our Grade III students' thematic units on ‘Ecodetectives’ and ‘Fit and Fun’, held on Saturday, 16th November, at Podar International School, Ratnagiri. This unique event brought together both themes, providing an opportunity for students to showcase their learning through creative performances, exhibitions, and presentations. The event aimed to highlight key aspects of environmental awareness, fitness, and wellness, while also encouraging students to engage with these subjects in a fun and interactive manner.
The event began with a lively Zumba session, tying into the ‘Fit and Fun’ theme. The students participated with great enthusiasm, dancing to upbeat music, and demonstrating the importance of staying active and healthy. It was a fun, high-energy way to kick off the day, setting the tone for the activities that followed.
In keeping with the event’s dual themes, the students took part in an educational and creative fashion parade. They were encouraged to dress in costumes that reflected either the ‘Ecodetectives’ or ‘Fit and Fun’ thematic units. The students’ costumes were imaginative and highlighted their learning in various areas, such as Yoga Guru, Junior Nutritionist, Healthy Chef, Eco-Detective, and Nature’s Wonders.
As part of the ‘Ecodetectives’ theme, students enjoyed a guided tour of the Butterfly Garden. The classrooms were transformed into dynamic exhibitions, where students displayed their research projects, worksheets, and creative works related to both thematic units.
The culminating event for the ‘Ecodetectives’ and ‘Fit and Fun’ thematic units was a resounding success. The fusion of the two themes—environmental awareness and physical wellness—provided a holistic learning experience that reinforced the importance of both aspects in the students’ daily lives.
On 16th November 2024, Podar International School, Ratnagiri, launched its first weekly school newspaper, Times of Podar (Ratnagiri Edition). The initiative, driven by the school Principal Mr. Rakesh Chavan, aims to foster creativity, improve writing skills, and promote student engagement within the school community.
The debut issue features a variety of sections, including Student’s Achievement, Celebrations of School Community Events, Invitation to Upcoming Events, and Student’s Content. There’s also a Faculty Corner. The first edition offers a blend of informative content, creative writing, and student-driven stories, reflecting the dynamic spirit of Podar.
The newspaper is a platform for students to express their thoughts and showcase their talents, while also strengthening communication between students, teachers, and parents. The editorial team, consisting of student volunteers, worked diligently on all aspects of production, from writing articles to layout design. With plans to expand its content and involve more students in future editions, Times of Podar promises to become a key part of school life, promoting critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership among students.
The launch marks an exciting new chapter in the school’s efforts to encourage student-led initiatives and creativity.
On Children’s Day, Podar International School #Ratnagiri was filled with joy and excitement as students and teachers came together to celebrate this special occasion. The day started with a lively assembly conducted by our dedicated teachers, setting a positive tone for the day. Teachers performed a beautiful group song, spreading warmth and cheer.
In a unique musical act, our teachers creatively encouraged students to reduce mobile use, instead focusing on physical games, spending quality time with family, and building friendships. This inspiring message was well received by all.
Our principal then delivered a heartfelt speech, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young minds and supporting them in their journey. To energize everyone, a fun Zumba session was organized, which filled the air with laughter and enthusiasm.
The day was packed with joyful activities, and students engaged with full spirit. The celebrations ended on a sweet note, as each student received gifts and treats, making the day truly memorable for everyone involved.
Podar International School, #Ratnagiri, celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, with the theme "Our Land, Our Future." The celebration focused on raising awareness about environmental protection and promoting sustainable practices among the staff. The highlight of the day was a tree plantation drive where teachers and administrative staff planted a variety of trees, including neem, moringa, mango, Christmas tree, guava, and amla, within the school premises. This initiative not only enhanced the greenery of the campus but also served as a practical lesson on the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance.

What a day filled with warmth and joy as Podar International School #Ratnagiri hosted a heartwarming Sneh Melava on 3rd of June 2024 to celebrate our incredible community spiriton! From energizing Zumba sessions for our hardworking transport, housekeeping, and security teams to thrilling sports matches of cricket, volleyball, and lagori, the atmosphere was electric with enthusiasm.
But the fun didn't stop there! Our talented students showcased their musical prowess with lively rounds of Antakshari and soulful solo singing performances, filling our hearts with melody and cheer.
And let's not forget the heartwarming Sneha Bhohan activity, where our dedicated teachers lovingly prepared a delicious lunch for all attendees, embodying the spirit of care and togetherness that defines our school.

On 16th April 2024 a comprehensive fire drill was conducted at Podar International School, Ratnagiri, organized by the Indian Coast Guard Service. The event aimed at educating and training the students on essential fire safety procedures and the correct use of fire extinguishers. The program was lead by Adhikari Mr.Roshan Vishwakarma, Mr. Shyamlal, Pradhan Navik, Mr. Jayprakash, Fireman, Mr. Ravindra, Fireman. The session began with an introduction to fire safety led by Mr. Roshan Vishwakarma, followed by practical demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers conducted by Mr. Shyamlal, Mr. Jayprakash, and Mr. Ravindra. The students were actively engaged, learning how to operate the fire safety equipment efficiently. Following the educational segment, an evacuation drill was executed, where the students practiced leaving the school building in an orderly and timely manner. This exercise helped reinforce the safety protocols that need to be followed during an actual fire incident. The fire drill was a resounding success, with all participants showing great enthusiasm and gaining vital knowledge about fire safety. The students demonstrated excellent understanding and skills during the evacuation process, ensuring they are better prepared for any potential emergencies. This was an effective educational experience for the students, enhancing their awareness and preparedness for fire-related emergencies. The school extends its gratitude to the team for their expert guidance and looks forward to more such informative sessions in the future.

The students of Podar International School, #Ratnagiri expressed their views about technology in the Express Yourself Activity through various mediums on 20th April 2023.
The students of grade I and II built a Robot using different coloured play dough after visualising a story based on a set of goofy robots. The students of grade III and IV shared the conversation about the use of technology through the – ‘A TETE-A-TETE BETWEEN...’ activity. The students of grade V and VI made amazing comic strips that brought out a conversation between a Smartphone user and their smart phones. Whereas the students of grade VII and VIII debated over the topic ‘Is the use of Technology making the Human Race smarter?’
Through this activity the students portrayed the topic from a very different lens and learned to accept a diametric point of view.

Podar International School, #Ratnagiri has commenced this 1st theme of the year with the Jumpstart event. This module will allow the students to think more deeply about the technology they use and would want to use.
The 1st day of the new academic year i.e. 6th April 2023 started with the Robotic Dance activity for all the students during assembly. The energy of students during this activity was notable.
The students of grades 4 to 8 participated in the Jumpstart activity on the same day whereas the students of grades 1 to 3 performed it on 10th April 2023. Match the Gadget, My Favourite Gadget, If I Had a Robot, and Future Inventions were the themes of grades 1 to 8 respectively. The students shared their views about technology and showed their eagerness for the rest of the events under the theme.
Podar International School, #Ratnagiri celebrated Annual Function on 3 Feb 2023 for Grades V to X on Theme “Malgudi Days”.
Malgudi Days is a story series created by great and inspiring artist late R.K Narayan. He was one of the finest Indian authors whose writing exuded great simplicity, elegance and humour. He brought into focus the many ironies and the everyday magic of personal relationships in his stories. He created the fictional South Indian town of Malgudi, interspersed with such riveting characters, characters that would stay afresh in your mind for possibly days to come. A lot of people, even today, would testify that “Malgudi Days” is a tribute to childhood, nostalgia, innocence and all such wonderful things. Through this play, we pay a humble tribute to the accomplished writer and his most charming work - The Malgudi Days – the story of Swami and his friends…This play is adapted from a few of Narayan’s stories, and we have taken the creative liberty to tweak it a little, but rest assured that the essence has stayed intact and the author’s charm has been retained.
The students presented dances during the drama matching the central keynote. It was a power packed energetic performance.
The National Science Day was celebrated on 28 Feb 2023 at Podar International School, #Ratnagiri. The students from grade I to IX presented their models on various topics.
The objectives of this programme was that the entire event provided a platform to the students to prove their talents, bring out their creativity , face challenges and overcome their weakness. Our principal has emphasized our role in widely spreading the significance of scientific applications in our daily life . Our staff members shared their knowledge with the students. Student's participated with enthusiasm at the science fair.The science day was successful and we believed that our objective was achieved.
National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. For his discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
The students from grade I to IX of Podar International School, #Ratnagiri exhibited their Science models for students to mark the day. They prepared working models on various topics under the theme Mysteries of Science.
The students of Podar International School, #Ratnagiri participated in PARIVARTAN DRIVE 2022 -23’ – ‘Ecowarriors’ - A Sustainable You and I’ on Saturday, 25 Feb 2023. : The school organized a special drive on creating awareness about fast fashion, the need to adopt sustainable clothing and to talk about the importance of recycling clothes to reduce waste and to save the environment.
They also came up with a few DIY ideas for reusing their old clothes. They prepared various artistic materials and contributed to their respective house stall for house-wise competition. Ms. Zaiba Shaikh, a local artist famous for her creativity and artistic talent judged the competition.
The students also created the awareness through street play, Eco-fashion show, the songs and poems of nature and weavers, the class displays focusing on the natural fibers and asked the people to support the cause and take a pledge.
The puppet show by Podar Prep also emphasized on sustainable environment. The principal Mr. Rakesh Chavan addressed the audience and appealed the people to adopt eco-friendly fashion to conserve the environment for future generation. The programme culminated with cheerful dance moves of zumba.
Students of Grade II of Podar International School, #Ratnagiri had participated in Jumpstart activity ‘Solar system’ on 7 Feb 2023 with great energy and enthusiasm.
The Jumpstart event is an activity carried out at the start of the Thematic Unit to immerse the students in the theme without directly telling them what it is all about. The Jumpstart is designed to hook the students, capture their imagination and generate curiosity about the upcoming Thematic Unit.
For the Jumpstart activity in this unit, the students watched a video based on Outer Space.
The concept Quest was conducted where the class was divided into groups of 4-5 students, and the teacher provided them with worksheets of space drawing and chart paper.
A Concept Quest provided the students with an opportunity to record everything they already know about the Thematic Unit. It empowered learners to realise that they already know many things and provided a base which can be used throughout the unit to make connections.
As part of the concept quest students decorated posters based on the theme of the Solar System and written questions that they have on the topic.
The 74th Republic Day of sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic India was celebrated at Podar International School, #Ratnagiri with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. This day is celebrated to honour the commencement of the longest constitution of the largest democracy in the World.
Mr. Dilip Jamkhedkar (Retd. District Judge) graced the occasion as Chief Guest who unfurled the National Flag, the symbol of our pride. The feel of patriotism was experienced with the melodious flag song and patriotic songs. The students presented the play “Inspiring Indian Heroes”. They enacted 4 inspiring Indians who have gone against all odds to inspire thousands of lives but are hardly talked about. The dance performance by the students mesmerized the audience.
This celebration has helped the students to invoke the patriotic spirit and encouraged them to be loyal and respectful towards our nation.
The Thematic Unit, “Whatever the Weather” is concluded with the culminating event ‘Weather Watchers’ organized by the students of Grade I of Podar International School, #Ratnagiri on 7 Jan 2023.
This event showcased all that the students have learned during the course of the Thematic Unit. As part of the culminating event students presented Seasonal clothes fashion show. Worksheets that the students completed during the week and weather activities were displayed.
Students presented the dance on a Weather song that they had practiced during the music period of the Thematic Week.
Parents enjoyed the event by appreciating efforts of students and teachers. The enthusiasm and cheerful mien was seen throughout the event.
Fire can cause large scale damage to any premises within a small time. This makes it critical for schools and other academic environments where there are combustible materials, fire hazards, and a lot of vulnerable kids who don’t know what to do in the event of a fire. Hence Podar International School, #Ratnagiri had organized a fire drill on Friday, 6 Jan 2023. The students and staff gathered at the assigned assembly point at the sound of a fire alarm. The support staff helped to evacuate the building quickly. Mr. Yashwant Nalawade, fire officer at Ratnagiri District, MIDC Fire station briefed the students and staff about how to respond during the emergency situation. The students used the fire extinguishers to put off the fire.
