"Pattern Prism - Unveiling, Creating, Connecting: Where Patterns Come to Life!"
The students began the "Pattern Prism" theme with the Jumpstart Activity. The goal of the Pattern Prism module is to help students recognize the hidden patterns in the world around them. A pattern can be defined as any regularity found in nature, man-made designs, abstract concepts, outer space, or even in human behavior and thinking. This module focuses on teaching students to identify these patterns, and, by doing so, understand the logical connections, interpretations, and predictions that arise from them. Here at PIS Hubballi, we are exploring the fascinating world around us through this engaging theme.
Diwali, being a "Festival of Lights," was celebrated by Podar Prep along with PIS on 26th October with a Diwali Mela featuring colorful rangoli, lighting diyas, and multiple events like Rangoli making, Diya decorating, Kandil making, and capturing memories at our vibrant Photo Booth.
Here’s what our young learners took away from this experience:
- Enhanced social and emotional intelligence as they shared activities with their peers and families.
- A deeper understanding of Diwali traditions and values, like sharing, gratitude, and happiness.
- Opportunities to develop creativity through hands-on activities celebrating the colors and lights of Diwali.
- Our Diwali Mela emphasized togetherness, celebrating the light within every child.
This event truly embodied hands-on learning, the Kiducation way!
Special feature ‘The Experimentarium'. GRADE 5 and 6
The objective of the special feature ‘The Experimentarium' is to use the STEAM approach to learning.
On Day 1, students explore the concept of density of liquids. They discover for themselves how different liquids have different densities and how it affects their behavior. For example, oil has a different density as compared to water and hence, when oil and water are mixed together, oil floats on top of the water.
On Day 2, students begin the session with a quick recap of the concept of density covered in Day 1. They move on to perform an experiment where they find out how applying pressure pushes things into the depth of water and releasing the pressure makes it float back up.
Special Feature – The Experimentarium – Perspectives in STEM, STEAM, and LOGIC! Grades 3 & 4
On Day 1, the students learnt about the 3 states of matter by observing, conducting, and evaluating the Magic Balloon Experiment. They were also introduced to the concept of non-Newtonian fluids.
On Day 2, the students learnt about non-Newtonian fluids by observing, conducting, and evaluating the Oobleck and Slime Experiments.
Students in grades 1 and 2 participated in the special feature The Experimentarium, using a STEAM approach.
The STEAM approach of teaching includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics or a combination of any two of these subjects to explain a concept.
Students in this special feature combined science and art to study the concept of solubility over two sessions using different materials.
On Day 1, students explored the solubility of colours in water through art using lemon as a marker.
On Day 2, students conducted another experiment to investigate the same concept under different conditions and observed the outcomes.

PLASTIC PLASTIC EVERYWHERE! – "Breaking the Plastic Spell House Competition"
The Plastic Bottle Upcycling Challenge
Plastic bottles, a major part of the single-use plastic waste generated, can be easily repurposed and converted into useful articles. Through this competition, we aim to make students realize how irresponsible use of single-use plastic must be addressed, and reusing existing plastic can play a small but important role in this.
Together with climate change, plastic pollution is one of the most challenging problems of our time. We get weekly news about the extent of the problem, with microplastics being discovered in the most remote parts of the planet and inside the most diverse life forms. There is a vivid discussion on ways to address the issue, and the best way to do it is to set some solid foundation.

They will also realise that, unlike popular belief, plastic is a precious material and needs to be treated as such. They also understood that all these properties make plastic long-lasting, durable, and economical. That makes plastic a precious material and also harms the environment because of how it is used. And students learnt about single-use and reusable plastics, knowing that once discarded, both cause equal harm and that it is important to avoid/reduce and students learnt about the new uses of plastic waste in the construction industry and how to upcycle plastic bottles to create eco-bricks.
This special feature focuses on how one's mindset plays an important role in life. A growth mindset is a belief in oneself and one's abilities. This mindset teaches that talent and abilities are not fixed and that effort can enhance intelligence over time. It also encourages one to think positively in the face of setbacks and not give up easily.
In this two-day program, the students learn about fixed and growth mindsets and the difference between the two. They learn to apply the growth mindset approaches to their daily lives and will observe how they benefit them. The activities designed for this feature will prepare the students to adapt and develop themselves to have a growth mindset.
