This engaging event celebrated the contributions of four legendary figures in Indian advertising - Alyque Padamsee, Piyush Pandey, Prasoon Joshi, and R. Balki - with the aim of inspiring students by highlighting their creative genius, innovative campaigns, and impact on media and society.
The assembly began with a tribute to Alyque Padamsee, widely regarded as the “Father of Indian Advertising.” His iconic campaigns, such as the Liril waterfall girl and Hamara Bajaj, were revisited to illustrate how he brought emotion and imagination into the business of branding. His parallel achievements in theatre and advertising showcased the power of merging performance art with strategic communication.
The focus then shifted to Piyush Pandey, one of the most respected names in Indian advertising and the Chief Creative Officer Worldwide and Executive Chairman of Ogilvy India. His groundbreaking work on the Fevicol campaigns — including the unforgettable bus, fish, and sofa ads — was highlighted, along with his contributions to Asian Paints’ “Har Ghar Kuchh Kehta Hai” and the Polio Drive campaign. His ability to use humor, emotion, and everyday Indian life in storytelling resonated deeply with the audience.
Next came Prasoon Joshi, a celebrated lyricist and advertising visionary known for blending poetry and powerful messaging. His work on campaigns such as “Thanda Matlab Coca-Cola”, along with initiatives for brands like Nestlé, Microsoft, and NDTV India, demonstrated how advertising can move beyond commercial objectives to spark social awareness and cultural connection.
The final segment featured R. Balki, a master storyteller and ad filmmaker, known for his impactful campaigns like “Daag Achche Hain” for Surf Excel, “Jaago Re” for Tata Tea, and “What an Idea, Sirji” for Idea Cellular. His transition from advertising to filmmaking was also explored, showing how the skills of storytelling transcend mediums.
Honorable Principal Mr Parveen Kumar Zear graced the occasion and shared valuable insights on the world of advertising, making the event more enriching. The event was a rich and inspiring experience, reminding students that media is not just about what we see — it’s about the ideas that shape what we believe.
